The UCSB Library and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, with generous support from many UCSB sponsors, are proud to present the UCSB Reads common reading experience during winter quarter 2009. Community partners include the Santa Barbara Public Library System, the Santa Barbara City College Luria Library, the Westmont College Library, the Antioch University Library, and local high schools. Each year, this award-winning program engages our broad and diverse community in a series of conversations, lectures, readings, displays, and other activities that explore interdisciplinary issues sparked by the selected read. Copies of the book are distributed free to interested students, and faculty members are encouraged to incorporate the book into their class curricula. UCSB Reads 2009 aims to:
After you finish reading the book, redistribute your copy to another reader! There is a collection box in UCSB's Davidson Library for this purpose. Faculty and students will be exploring the multi-disciplined issues and topics covered in the selected book. Community events related to the book includes lectures, panel discussions, and workshops. Check the Events page for a complete schedule of events for the UCSB Reads program, and please join us!
